5 Things I learned from LA models

Well, as most of you know, I went for my first (OMFG) LA audition yesterday! This meant I hopped on a plane, flew out, rented a car, auditioned, returned car, flew back all before 4 pm. Woohhhhh! Anyways, this was my second ever encounter with true LA actors/models.

Side note…on the way there I totally saw the WB studio!!

Here’s a picture of the famous watertower in all it’s grainy glory!

Ok now to the good stuff…

FIVE THINGS I LEARNED FROM (ABOUT) LA MODELS

1) You are not allowed to have an ass. But you can have huge fake boobs.

2) ALWAYS wear stilletos. You’ll look weird if you wore…FLATS or CHUNKY HEELS.

3) Hair is always perfect. Long and flowy or short and spunky, but definitely always perfect./

4) Wear a tight dress. It’ll accentuate your size -2 body.

5) They can be short! Especially for commercial modeling. And I thought I was height-impaired. . .

Happy Obama Day!

Yes, thank you EVERYONE who voted for CHANGE in this world. I’m happy to say I’m feeling MUCH better about being American today.

And now his moving acceptance speech:

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

I’m a bit sad that Proposition 8 passed (well more then a little sad) but in light of the happy news about Obama (who didn’t support Prop 8), hopefully an era of hate and prejudice will come to an end.

PLEASE VOTE TODAY!

To inspire you to vote:

Also there’s tons of free food and stuff if you vote! Kenneth Cole is doing 44% off EVERYTHING in honor of our 44th President (who is, hopefully, Obama).

So please vote, and remember please. No on 8. It’s hateful, discriminatory and just plain wrong!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

To everyone out there - have a happy, safe, wonderful, fun, awesome, etc etc halloween! I’ll post pics of my cute adventures and feel free to tell me about your plans in the comments!

Cheers!

VOTE Yes on Proposition 1!

With the myriad of other important issues out there (Vote No on Prop 8, Vote No on Prop 4, Vote YES FOR OBAMA) the rest of the issues can get lost (or just be confusing!).

Tonite, I went over to a “voting party” of a friend of Mel’s, where we all had our ballots and discussed each of the California measures and some of the local San Francisco measures.

The suspects - er, guests at the party

It was INCREDIBLY helpful to hear both sides of the debate by people who really care about SF and California.

Rohan, one of the lovely hosts for the evening - note the whiteboard.

One measure that hits close to home without me even knowing it is Proposition 1: Safe, Reliable High-Speed Passenger Train Bond Act for the 21st Century. This would SIGNIFICANTLY lower the costs to travel to LA (very important for a beginning broke actor…) - in fact, it would lower the travel time to about 2.5 hours for about $50-80 per way. That is WAY cheaper then last-minute (day before) airfare and WAY faster then driving my poor Honda.

I know this isn’t the sexiest issue out there, but consider it when you’re filling out that ballot!

Mel looking surprised ;)

Me and Rach and some delicious free cheese!

Cheers and remember to VOTE!!!
