How to eat a Pomegranate

Mmmm. . . There’s something about these antioxidant-filled jewels. Maybe it’s the fact that when I was in Middle School we did a short film on the Greek Mythology of Persephone. Like me, she can’t resist these delicious morsels.

Anyways, I realized with all the great pomegranate products out there (aka Pom), you don’t even need to go through the hassle of eating a pomegranate anymore…either way, I like them as they are – seeds and all – and here’s how to properly eat them, Goldie-style.

1. Cut off a strip of the Pomegranate rind (much like a slice of orange). Just make sure to ONLY cut the rind or else you’ll have a bloody mess everywhere ><

Everything you need. Pomegranate. Knife. Bowl.

2. Carefully peel open the side and pop off the seeds that are contained in the fleshy part. They’re kinda of like cooked corn, so be careful not to pop them!

3. Repeat cutting off pieces of the rind and popping out the seeds. When you’re done cutting up the rind, continue to remove seeds left in the middle fleshy part with your hands. (This is why I have to keep getting new manicures :P )

4. OH DELICIOUS BOWL FULL OF GOODNESS!!

YUM! The prize :) which I am enjoying as I type this!

So be like me and enjoy Pomegranates NOWWW! I think they are in season :)

P.S. If you boys out there need any other reason to start eating/drinking pomegranate stuff. . . consider that it aids in Prostate Health and decreases Erectile Dysfunction. Oh, and it’s good for blood pressure, sugar levels and other parts of your body too ^^

Here’s another tip from Real Age how to properly pop out them seeds: Not sure what to do with a pomegranate? It’s easy! Slice in half from the “crown” top to the bottom. Fill a bowl with cool water, submerge each half, turn inside out, and pop out the seeds.

Yeah I use the comment version: fill a bowl with water and do all of the cutting/seed popping beneath the surface. When you’re done…no mess!
