Gah, I’m super enamored with the show Dead Like Me on Hulu. There’s something about watching people deal with death that is so fascinating. The acting is great and it even has Mandy Patinkin, who played Inigo Montoya on the Princess Bride.

The story centers around George or Georgia, a loofer 18-year old who dropped out of college and has no idea what she wants to do in life. After getting beaned on the head with a falling toilet seat cover, she realizes that grim reapers are very real.

Man, I have been super out of touch with my cute little blog! So much has been going on that I’ve been just swamped, etc etc. Well, enough excuses, here’s a note to all my dears. Also, my Wordpress has been very cranky about letting me upload new images

Lately, I’ve been super obsessed with thrift store shopping and getting classic stuff to add to my wardrobe – while cleaning out the stuff that is years old and kinda fugs.

You can get vintage Ferragamo heels for $20 or a nice leather waist belt for $10. I just scored a BCBG top for $10 and it’s rather pretty The current leather belt obsession I’m going through can’t be healthy…

So ladies, here’s how to efficiently shop for items at a Goodwill Boutique or other local thrift store.

1. Shoes: Leather is the best bet. It holds its shape and value for years and you’ll need to worry less about the shoes completely disintegrating after you take them home. Also keep an eye out for where it was made and the label that made it. I love Italian shoes for the quality!

2. Belts: Gosh, I always forget that you can get a nice black/brown/white belt in a thrift store for pennies on the dollar! Once again, makes sure it’s leather and the holes where you put the buckle through are relatively small – that means that it wasn’t used very frequently

3. Shirts: If you go to a boutique or consignment store, you can find some nice shirts for less. Be sure to try them on if you can, and check for stains under the armpit and neck. Also make sure all zippers work and buttons are there!

4. Jackets: Every once in a blue moon, I manage to track down a vintage wool coat that looks really fantastic! It’s important to try it on in store to make sure you won’t have the 80s shoulder pad look.

5. Eyeglasses: If you want a truly original and funky frame, think about going with a vintage pair from Goodwill or Salvation Army! Just be sure to try on the pair beforehand and make sure they’re a pair of prescription glasses – not reading glasses. I definitely saw one girl on set who had the most original gold and rose cat-eye glasses that were absolutely fabulous! And they only cost her $10!

In other news, I’m in the works for a possible new web series. If you’re in the Bay Area, keep an eye out for any Red Hawk Casino ads you might see on TV – I’m in them for about 2 seconds! Anyways, back to work.
